Upon entering Pop Idol
he never knew his fate
a voice that far exceeded all
but largely over weight.

He sang just like an angel
but made the judges disagree
they knew he had the voice
but no Pop Idol was he.

Still they put him through on merit
and put it to the public vote
sure enough he won by far
as he perfected every note.

Now down to the last ten
the judges plotted without detection
and it was announced as the finals started
Rik had a throat infection.

In came Darius with all his cheese
and Rik's campaign was over
instead of natural talent
you had Mr Casanova.

But Big Rik wasn't fazed by this
and a record deal he got
"I Will Always Love You"
was the song to hit top spot.

Sadly though, no number one
as will still topped the chart
but number six's not bad for a guy
Pete hated from the start !
